While most employers attempt to build a positive culture in their organizations, there are times when they are faced with the dark side. The news often reports criminal convictions of employees who have acted against their companies through nefarious means. Not often reported is the cost extracted through lost productivity, internal political strife, and turnover of higher-quality talent. Some applicants will see employment opportunity as a criminal opportunity and inevitably engage in counterproductive—or even destructive—behavior. Both research and experience have demonstrated the need for executives and managers to understand the dark side. Researchers have identified what they call the “The Dark Triad” of personality—psychopathy, sociopathy, and Machiavellianism. This seminar is designed to help managers recognize and address these sub-clinical psychopathological characteristics in the workplace. Particular attention will be paid to the interview and assessment process to understand how employees with dark motives access, accumulate, and abuse power for personal gain at an organizational cost. Such behavior can be devasting for a company—some companies will not survive.
Are you hiring? If you attend this seminar, you will be better prepared to interview the next smiling sociopath who would like to have a job in your company.
