UP Good Jobs Cohort

Creating quality job opportunities for the Upper Peninsula

Good For Michigan Cohorts are made up of businesses grouped by industry or region, who come together to create local impact collaboratively. By utilizing tools such as the SDG Action Manager and B Impact Assessment, we help companies set and achieve positive and measurable place-based impacts.

In partnership with Northern Initiatives and Northern Michigan University’s Sustainability Hub for Innovation & Environment (SHINE), the Good For Good Jobs cohort brought together 7 businesses across the Upper Peninsula to address three job quality indicators: Economic Stability, Economic Mobility, and Equity, Respect & Voice (as put forth by the Aspen Institute). To create a baseline of their individual and collective impacts, the participating businesses utilized five aligned Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs). The SDGs are a group of 17 goals developed by the UN Global Compact which provide strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth.
