What To Wear For Your Business Headshots

Your professional headshot is the new handshake.

It’s the first impression someone gets of you and your company. You want to make a great first impression don’t you?

As Grand Rapids headshot photographers, we have gathered some insight to assist you with knowing what to wear for your own business headshots.

The Right Color. When it comes to your business headshots, know that plain-colored clothing would be your best choice, as patterns, designs, and logos could be quite distracting. Black and white clothes are always ideal (and slimming). However, if you would like to be a little bit more colorful, choosing mid-tone colors in blues, greens, and other earth tones are best, as they are flattering hues for all skin tones. But, with that being said, know that pastels should be avoided, as they often blend into flesh-tones, which certainly isn’t ideal!

The Right Fit. Choosing clothing that is snug would be best for your business headshots. However, don’t choose clothes that are too tight, as you will want to ensure that you can move within them with ease. By choosing clothing that is snug, you can showcase the natural curves of your body, as clothes that aren’t fitted can appear boxy in photos, which could present a ragged appearance. In addition, know that shirts and blouses that aren’t fitted will appear baggy and unprofessional, which certainly isn’t pleasing to the eye!

The Right Accessories. You can add a dash of class to your business headshots with accessories. However, you won’t want to overdo it when selecting yours! For men, a standard tie is always a wonderful option. In addition, if you are really looking to amp up your style, consider cufflinks, or even a pocket square. For women, jewelry is always a beautiful complement. However, the elements chosen should be dainty, as to also not cause any distractions! Opt for accessories such as stud earrings and small pendant necklaces.
