SUMMARY:Featured Artist Series: Michael Schaeffer & Christy DeHoog
DESCRIPTION:The first in our series of featured artists shows. Spend a little more time with the works of two long time LG artists\, Michael Schaeffer & Christy DeHoog\, in our new mini-exhibition format.\nOpening reception Friday\, March 29th\, 5-7pm\nQ&A session at 6pm\n\nExhibition on display through Saturday\, April 13th\nDrawing on her experience as a former illustrator\, Christy DeHoog uses an array of media (acrylic\, collage and drawing media) along with a finely honed visual vocabulary to connect with viewers on multiple levels. Over the years her work has transitioned from subject based into abstraction\, as she pushes the process of playing with line and shape and fields of color.\n\nUpon receiving her MFA\, she traveled the country for a while and then resettled back in Grand Rapids. Christy taught illustration for a few years at Kendall\, she now lives and works in Spring Lake\, Michigan as a full time painter.\n\nhttps://lafontsee.com/artist/christy-dehoog#current%20work\n\nIn his abstract work\, Michael Schaeffer’s inventive palette and fresh\, unpredictable results are a testament to the discoveries made throughout his creative journeys. Large or small\, figurative or abstract\, each of his paintings play off each other and convey a sense of adventure and spontaneity. With emphasis on color\, texture\, and form\, Schaeffer infuses intuitive and improvisational markings with order\, balance\, and harmony. Each finished painting is about the process of its creation\, the manipulation of paint on any surface\, and the relationships that form its composition.\n\nhttps://lafontsee.com/artist/michael-schaeffer…\n\nEveryone is Welcome\, Dress is Casual\, Admission is Free.
