SUMMARY:Measure for Measure in Grand Rapids
DESCRIPTION:The Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company presents Measure for Measure!\n\nThe play takes place in Vienna\, where the Duke mysteriously decides to travel away from the city and leave his deputy\, Angelo\, in charge\, with instructions for Angelo to enforce a set of laws that the Duke himself has long neglected. Angelo proceeds to tear down the city’s brothels and arrest citizens for adultery. Isabella\, a novice in a convent\, learns that her brother has been arrested and pleads for his life\, but her encounter with Angelo puts her in an impossible position. Quirky\, comedic characters from Vienna’s underworld contrast with the near-tragic central conflict. Please note that because of adult themes in the play\, we recommend this performance for audience members 13 and up.\n\nPigeon Creek’s production is directed by Aili Huber\, artistic director of the Silk Moth Stage theater company in Virginia. It features actors Chaz Albright\, Kathleen Bode\, Michael Dodge\, Kimi Griggs\, Kat Hermes\, Scott Lange\, Katherine Mayberry\, Ashley Normand\, Emma Oliver\, Sarah Stark\, and Scott Wright. Pigeon Creek’s productions feature a lively\, audience-interactive performance style that draws on performance conditions from Shakespeare’s own life time.\n\nClick here for tickets: Measure for Measure in Grand Rapids Tickets\, Sun\, Apr 7\, 2024 at 2:00 PM | Eventbrite

SUMMARY:Artful Futures: Investing in the 12th House a Fundraising Event
DESCRIPTION:Empower Art\, Sustain Community: The 12th House GR Hosts “Artful Futures” Investing in The 12th House GR\, A Fundraiser Celebrating Creativity and Community Event on April 12\, 2024\nThe 12th House GR is a retail space specializing in local handmade art\, with a predominant focus on pieces from local queer artists. We are reaching out to individuals who share our vision of cultivating a vibrant and inclusive space in Grand Rapids to support an event in April: “Artful Futures: Investing in The 12th House\,” is a fundraiser supporting our vision for diverse\, inclusive spaces for local artisans and community members.\n\nOur journey at 12th House began in June 2021\, with opening our doors in the Heartside District. Approaching our third anniversary\, we reflect with gratitude on the tremendous support received during the last two and a half years. This period has seen us navigate the challenges of sustaining a brick-and-mortar presence\, compensating artists\, collaborating with community partners\, and adapting to the evolving needs of our patrons.\n\nAlongside the rewarding aspects\, the dynamic growth of Grand Rapids -particularly in the downtown core – presents financial challenges for small businesses. While the demand for our space is well-demonstrated with regular patrons and artists who love to vend with us\, we find ourselves grappling with inflation and the increasing financial strain of maintaining and expanding our footprint.\n\nIn light of these economic challenges\, we are reaching out for support to ensure the queer community has a place to flourish in the Grand Rapids community. Your contribution will play a crucial role in maintaining our presence and fostering the growth of a thriving downtown core that we can all take pride in.\n\nExcitingly\, as we approach our third year\, we are celebrating with “Artful Futures: Investing in The 12th House\,” scheduled for April 12\, from 6:00-9:00 pm\, at Midwest Movement Collective in the Monroe North Business District. With an expected attendance of 50+ and an additional 100 tickets available for “Friends From Afar\,” the evening promises a drag show\, tarot card readings\, henna body art\, local food\, and sponsorship opportunities\, including a raffle featuring goods and services from neighboring local businesses.\n\nHere are ways you can be a part of building this vibrant community:\nDonate: Offer a good or service for our raffle table (any cash value)\, donate canned or bottled beverages (including beer\, wine\, or non-alcoholic options)\, or contribute catering\, including desserts.\nSponsorship: Your contributions of any amount will secure your space as an official event sponsor.\nAttend: Purchase tickets to attend: VIP – $100\, General – $65\, Friends From Afar – $35. VIP ticket holders will enjoy an exclusive group session with our medium\, Alliey\, for a unique and personalized experience.\n\nThe benefits of sponsorship include:\n– Shoutouts on our social media pages (Facebook – 3.5K followers\, Instagram – 2.4K followers & TikTok – 5K followers) with previews of your product and direct tags.\n– Logo visibility on the event page\, and at the live event (65 attendees + volunteers and performers).\n– Shoutouts at the live event during the program.\n– For contributions over $250 in value: permanent visibility on our Love Note Space on our cash wrap. It is the place when we first opened\, we placed all of our well wishes and thank you cards.\n– For locally owned retail & service: guaranteed monthly feature in our “shop local” rewards program (where we reward our clients for financially supporting other small businesses in Grand Rapids).\n– Optional: Provide promotional materials for us to display during the live event on April 12.\nContributing businesses will receive pre-event social media highlights\, on-mic recognition during the event\, and an opportunity to include additional marketing materials for distribution to attendees.\n\nYour consideration in supporting The 12th House GR is genuinely appreciated. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or for further details. Together\, let’s continue to uplift our community.\n\nWith Gratitude\,\nSarah Cash (owner\, CEO\, weird human behind the counter)\nThe12thHouse.GR@gmail.com / 616-288-9962\n\nBuy tickets: https://square.link/u/6pJ2bVDK\nVolunteer opportunities: https://forms.gle/sLnQaySqRev2cTZ27\nPerformer Interest: https://forms.gle/kZkDk9Yrsx2ebHLY8
