SUMMARY:Heritage Hill 52nd Annual Weekend Tour of Homes
DESCRIPTION:In its 52nd year\, one of the largest urban historic neighborhoods in the country opens its doors for a sneak peek into private homes and rarely seen public spaces during the Annual Heritage Hill Weekend Tour of Homes. A variety of architectural styles will be on display\, including a grand neoclassical beauty with an extraordinary cherry wood-encased library\, an 1878 Gothic cottage filled with interesting nooks\, faceted ceilings\, and back-to-back fireplaces\, and a newly renovated shingle style home freshly painted pink with a large and welcoming front porch. \nTicket holders can immerse themselves in Michigan’s “Prairie masterpiece\,” the Meyer May House designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and several other public buildings including a stone castle-like home that now serves as a dentist office\, two turn of the century grand mansions that have been transformed into apartment buildings\, and Cornerstone Church\, which features a magnificent sunburst stained glass dome ceiling. \nAdvance tickets are $20.00 each and are available at www.heritagehillweb.org. Tickets purchased on the days of the tour are $27.00 each online or at the ticket booth at GR Community College – DeVos Campus\, 435 E. Fulton Ave. All tickets are valid both days\, Saturday\, May 20 from 11 am – 5 pm and Sunday\, May 21 from 1 pm – 5 pm. \nHeritage Hill was named by This Old House as one of the country’s “Best Old House Neighborhoods.” Its 1\,300 homes date from 1843 and represent Michigan’s finest collection of 19th and 20th century American architecture\, ranging from Greek Revival to Prairie. \nProceeds benefit the Heritage Hill Association’s programs that support the historic preservation of this unique neighborhood and assist with land use planning\, connecting neighbors with community resources\, and public safety efforts. Please call 616-459-8950 for more information\, or visit our website at www.heritagehillweb.org. \nFor media inquiries\, please contact:  Barbara Draughon\, Executive Director\, Heritage Hill Association
